The Therapist’s Shadow: Unlocking Growth Through Self-Awareness in Practice
Join Danielle Massi, LMFT, bestselling author of Shadow Work, for an enlightening keynote, “The Therapist’s Shadow: Unlocking Growth Through Self-Awareness in Practice.” In this talk, Danielle will explore how therapists’ own unconscious biases, emotional triggers, and blind spots—their shadow—shape the therapeutic process. Through practical tools, real-world examples, and self-reflective exercises, participants will learn how embracing their shadow can deepen empathy, enhance therapeutic effectiveness, and model vulnerability for clients within therapeutic contexts. This session offers all counselors and therapists the opportunity to integrate shadow work into their personal and professional lives, creating lasting growth for themselves and those they serve.

The inaugural Shadow & Soul Summit provides a continuing education opportunity inviting healers and caring professionals to engage in over two full days of powerful hands-on workshops and thought-provoking discussions led by prominent mental health specialists. Immersive arts-based experiences will foster deep personal exploration.

The concept of Shadow, introduced a century ago by psychologist Carl Jung, refers to the hidden, often suppressed, aspects of our psyche — the parts of ourselves we may have neglected, feared, or rejected. Contemporary Shadow work using the expressive arts incorporates art making, creative writing, embodied practices, and other creative disciplines. It is designed to provide healers and seekers alike with a variety of potent tools for accessing those aspects of Self deemed to be unacceptable. Once identified, understood, and befriended, we are free to incorporate and celebrate these formerly disowned parts. Participating in this process within a mindful community typically leads to enhanced healing and resiliency, cultivating Soul and enlivening the Spirit.

All are welcome!
No artistic talent or previous expressive therapies experience is required.
